March 28 • 4:18 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers assisted a boater with a dead battery in getting the boat started and under way.
April 2 • 1:02 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers followed a vessel with missing tags.

Newport Harbor
April 1 • 4:08 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers impounded a vessel that was reported illegally docked.
April 3 • 1:52 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a boat accident near Bayside Drive. Two 43-foot powerboats were involved in a collision.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Avalon Harbor
March 29 •
Avalon Harbor Patrol officers rescued a dog in the harbor and returned it to the boat it belonged aboard.

VENTURA COUNTY

Ventura Harbor
March 21 • 10:35 a.m. Ventura Harbor Patrol officers observed a fairly large petroleum sheen at Ventura West Marina’s B Dock. Officers reportedly had observed people working on an engine aboard a vessel in the vicinity, so they had the marina staff contact the boat’s owner. He advised that two mechanics working on his boat had accidentally activated the bilge pump. He responded and cleaned up the area using absorbent pads that officers provided to him.
March 22 • 6:40 p.m. Vessel Assist relayed a report of a disabled boat, anchored between Ventura Harbor and Channel Islands Harbor. Harbor Patrol officers responded, found the boat just outside the entrance, took the vessel in tow and released it to Vessel Assist personnel.
March 23 • 11:25 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a request for assistance from a disabled vessel, north of Ventura Harbor. Officers took the vessel in tow and released it at its slip in the Keys.
March 25 • A boater reported that his vessel was disabled at the harbor entrance. Harbor Patrol officers responded, took the vessel in tow and released it at the launch ramp.
March 27 • 10:30 a.m. A boater brought his sailboat to the long dock for a liveaboard inspection. At the end of the inspection, the boat would not start. Harbor Patrol officers took the vessel in tow and released it at its slip.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

Santa Barbara Harbor
March 24 • 1:30 a.m. Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a juvenile elephant seal in strange surroundings, on the corner of Cabrillo Boulevard and State Street. Harbor Patrol officers responded, captured the animal and notified the Marine Mammal Center.
