L.A. Harbor International Film Festival Coming May 2-5

SAN PEDRO — Los Angeles Harbor area boaters can step ashore and enjoy a long weekend of classic and new movies at the 10th annual L.A. Harbor International Film Festival, May 2-5.

Scheduled in historic downtown San Pedro at the Warner Grand Theater, the festival will offer a variety of movies to please attendees of all ages. The festival is designed to showcase films and videos that reflect the harbor and all that it encompasses — including shipping, commerce, fishing, sailing and the area’s cultural influence.

With a mission to “create a cinematic bridge between the people of the region and the people of the world,” the event features a Hollywood Nostalgia Tribute gala reception and a free education outreach program to promote literacy.

The festival lineup includes an education outreach program May 2 and the film “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” On May 3, festival-goers can view “The Thief and the Dogs.”

A Hollywood Nostalgia Tribute gala reception is set for May 4, featuring the film “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” with actress Mitzi Gaynor.

On May 5, festival-goers can attend “On Location: The Los Angeles Video Project” at 1 p.m., and see “Brothers on the Line,” at 3:30 p.m.

The Warner Grand Theater is located at 478 W. Sixth St. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call (310) 519-0756 or visit, brownpapertickets.com or laharborfilmfest.com.

General admission is $10 per program, with a $2 discount for seniors, students, Grand Vision Foundation and L.A. Maritime Museum members — with the exception of opening night. Free admission is available for U.S. veterans and those currently serving in the military.
