New docks and waterside promenade at Marina City Club Marina

MARINA DEL REY — A multi-million dollar renovation project that included the installation of newly constructed dock systems at Marina City Club, has come to an end at the perfect time as the harbor continues to develop and improve.

Essex Property Trust invested in a multi-million dollar renovation project, which started in December 2012, and was completed in just over two years. The full renovation included the complete demolition and rebuild of the docks (originally constructed in the 1970s), and the enhancement of the promenade area along the waterside of the Marina City Club.

The newly constructed concrete docks were installed in phases by Bellingham Marine, a leader in dock systems. By coordinating with marina management, the majority of boaters were able to stay and pick their permanent slips. The new facilities include electronic gates, a free public pumpout station, rounded fingers, water taxi landing, ADA access and four renovated restrooms with showers. Slips range from 25 to 120 feet, with liveaboard spaces available.

The new promenade area along the water welcomes passersby with new benches, lighting, drought-tolerant landscaping and colored stamp concrete in a wave pattern.

The Marina City Club property is easily recognizable by the three large circular towers designed by Howard Hughes. In addition to the 600 condominium homes, there are 101 promenade apartments with waterfront views and 303 boat slips. Marina City Marina docks stretch from the Ritz Carlton, along Marina City Club and FantaSea Yachts, to Killer Shrimp Restaurant.

Exclusive rates are available to Marina City boaters for membership to the Marina City Club, which includes access to pools, Jacuzzis, saunas, a gym, fitness classes, tennis courts and more. The property also has a hand car wash, café, beauty salon and restaurant. Dozens of restaurants and eateries are within walking distance.
