RBOC hosts strategy session workshop, April 21

NEWPORT BEACH – Recreational Boaters of California (RBOC) are inviting the public to attend a workshop focused on finding strategies to obtain a “common-sense, uniform statewide standard for copper-based anti-fouling surfaces.

The workshop will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 21 in the Newport Beach Civic Center Community Room, 100 Civic Center Dr., Newport Beach.

Boaters, clubs, marinas, industry and elected officials will discuss what actions to take in order to dissuade local regional water quality control boards from taking action to implement copper total maximum daily loads in impaired water bodies in California. The first occurred in Shelter Island Yacht Basin in San Diego with the second taking place in Marina del Rey. Newport Beach could be next.
