Sun Harbor Marina hosts Chili Cook Off, Oct. 18

SAN DIEGO – Sun Harbor Marina will host its annual Chili Cook Off and Mariner’s Swap Meet on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 a.m. Chili contest judging begins at 1 p.m.
Boat owners are invited to spend the morning at the marina where vendors will sell a range of items during the Mariners’ Swap Meet. Scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Pizza Nova parking lot, shoppers can peruse the aisles free of charge. Vendors can rent spaces with purchase of a $10 Pizza Nova gift certificate. OEX Point Loma will be having a SUP sale beginning at 9 a.m.
Following the swap meet is Sun Harbor Marina’s annual Chili Cook Off event. This year’s cook off will benefit Silvergate Elementary School. Students will be on site selling $5 tasting tickets for five tastings, drinks and other items.
Last year’s winner was Anne Crosley from Giddy Up. Who will be this year’s winner?
Categories are, Meat and Beans; Meat not Beans, and Vegetarian. Chili is judged on taste, smell, consistency, color and overall taste.
Competitors must make at least 1 gallon of chili and RSVP to the marina office by Oct. 15. Mariners are also invited to bring a side dish for all to enjoy.
