ON THE RADAR: Race ‘Around Catalina’ on May 28

DANA POINT — PHRF racers are invited to participate in the Around Catalina Race on May 28. The race is one of the longest continuous running regattas in Southern California, according to race organizers.

Around Catalina Race is co-sponsored by Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club and Dana Point Yacht Club and offers two course options. The original 75-mile overnight race course starts inside Angels Gate, rounds Catalina’s West End and finishes at Dana Point. The second course option is the day race Cruiser’s Fleet, a 34-mile course running from the starting area to Angels Gate then to Dana Point.

Dinner, drinks and a pre-race party will be held at Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club on May 27, followed by festivities at Dana Point Yacht Club on May 28 and May 29.

Slips, side ties, dry storage and hoists are available at both Cabrillo Beach and Dana Point yacht clubs.

Register at aroundcatalina.dpyc.org.
