Cabrillo Way Marina Phase 2 Now Open

SAN PEDRO — Cabrillo Way Marina, located at the Port of Los Angeles, is opening Phase 2 of its newly rebuilt marina, and it now has plenty of room for boats in a variety of size ranges.

The new improvements in this phase of the rebuilding project include 350 slips from 28 to 70 feet in length, 30 amp and/or 50 amp electric service, water service, dock boxes, two restrooms for boaters, four laundry rooms and ample dedicated parking.

A waste oil receiver is now on site, and ice and snack/beverage machines will follow soon. Pumpout service is available dockside in 60-foot and larger slips — and other use is available in a common dock area.

The new area also has a large dry storage yard that will accommodate 400 boats on trailers up to 45 feet in length. The boats are launched from cranes on the site, and sailboats may leave their rigging and masts up. Washdown water is available now, and electricity is expected in the yard soon.

Phase 1 of the marina opened and has been in use since Summer 2010. The entire marina has extensive landscaping, accented at night; a mile-long promenade along the water’s edge; and other public areas. Slip sizes here max out at 130 feet.

Slips and dry storage are immediately available — for boats in nearly all sizes — in both phases.

Cabrillo Way Marina is located in San Pedro at the corner of Harbor/Miner and 22nd Street, a short walk or dinghy ride from two restaurants, three yacht clubs, a hotel and a sportfishing landing. The entire waterfront and downtown San Pedro dining, shopping and art galleries are readily accessible from the local trolley stop.

Two yacht clubs — Los Angeles Yacht Club and Buccaneer Yacht Club — are currently building clubhouses adjacent to the marina and are expected to move here from the other side of the bay.
