The Women’s Sailing Association of Santa Monica Bay will host Marilyn Cassedy at its October meeting, where Cassedy will speak on her experience captaining a boat in this summer’s Race To Alaska, which covers 750 miles of coastal waters from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchikan, AK and is limited to vessels without motors. No support is allowed and challenges also include shipping lanes, 20-knot tidal currents, squalls, orcas and grizzlies. Time: 6:30 p.m., social hour: 8 p.m., presentation. Where: Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club, 13589 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey. Cost: Public is invited to attend twice yearly, then asked to join so as to take advantage of all WSA has to offer.
