South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club hosts this event that takes place on Santa Monica Bay

Capt. Tony Nino, of charter boat Bluefin, out of Mission Bay, will be talking to the club about finding a boat and getting started in the charter business. The largest senior fishing club in Southern California invites all anglers, age 50 and above, to join them at their monthly meeting.

Local freelance writer and photographer Chuck Graham will describe his favorite kayaking trips and wildlife encounters around the Channel Islands, during the June From Shore to Sea lecture. Graham will share some of his most challenging and most rewarding kayaking trips circumnavigating the unique eddies and coves of the islands.

Cortez Racing Association presents a fundraiser to benefit the Living Coast Discovery Center, a nonprofit that provides environmental education on San Diego’s coastal resource conservation. A dinner and regatta are scheduled.

Boaters can buy and sell used boating gear at the annual swap meet that runs consecutively with the Pacific Mariner Yacht Club’s open house and membership drive. A free extinguisher certifications and recharge booth will also be available at the event. Free; $30 for space.

The King Harbor Boating Foundation in conjunction with the USCG proposes to conduct hands-on training for local boaters in the proper use and deployment of USCG compliant handheld, aerial and LED visual distress signals, fire extinguishers and PFDs. The latest in safety equipment will also be on display at the event.

The Women’s Sailing Association of Santa Monica Bay will feature Colby Smith speaking on his work with the Los Angeles Maritime Institute’s TopSail Youth Program, which teaches sailing to inner city youth aboard the tall ships Exy Johnson and Irving Johnson.
