Please have the parade – Invite Newsom – he loves a good party! Only if he can swim — Safety First!
Christmas boat parade is on! YES! As an OC resident for over 40 years, I am thrilled to read parade continues. Let the adults run their lives, not Newsom.
I’ll be parading on Dec 14th!!
My Captains hat is off to you guys, God bless you Patriots I just may go down there from the LA Harbour if that’s ok??
The city council saw the pandemic getting much worse so they did the right thing in cancelling the boat parade this year. Please read the latest CDC report on the recent increases of covid transmission and death toll and what to do about it.
Also there are much safer ways for holiday cheer than encouraging gatherings on shore with a boat parade: Sure take some cruises all decked out like never before and do a triple cheer for the rest of us who are holed up, but, please don’t encourage shore gatherings which are so dangerous because you know it’s particularly not safe right now per the CDC. Also, what about postponing until late spring/summer? That seems to be when the general public may get enough vaccine to be much safer. Then let’s have the parade of a lifetime, aren’t we all sick of playing it safe even though we don’t seem to be doing a good job of playing it safe as far as the CDC data says. Well, now we have to be more than double safe because the pandemic just got twice as bad.
I’ve been participating in the Newport Christmas Boat Parade since 2009 and I had already started decorating my boat for this year’s parade when a friend of mine told my the parade had been cancelled. Talk about a heart breaker! I just now saw this article and am excited that there are people that was thinking the same thing as I was. See everyone on the water!
Please see latest CDC public health guidelines which recommend limiting gatherings due to recent increases in covid transmission and death.
Rade on Boat parade.
Yay for individualism. Who cares about what is best for everyone else. Blet’s just care about what makes us happy. Don’t tell me what to do! ‘Murica!
Those of you warning about CDC guidelines…have you ever been to a boat parade? It is not a crowd lining a street 5 deep, it is spread out, outside and very safe. Safer then going to your local grocery store. If you are not comfortable being outside, in the dark and cold, sitting in a beach chair, wrapped in a blaket, drinking hot coffee…stay home.
