Summer Fun Hits the LA Waterfront: Free Events and Attractions Await

Get ready for a wave of summer fun along the LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles, where a lineup of free public events and attractions will keep visitors entertained from May through September. From the annual LA Fleet Week After Party at West Harbor Town Square to the Italy Run LA 5K, there’s something for everyone.

Kick off summer with the Fleet Week After Party on May 24 and 25, featuring live music, local food, and scenic boat tours. On June 1, lace up your running shoes for the fourth annual Italy Run LA 5K, a family-friendly event celebrating Italian culture in San Pedro. Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will host its Second Annual Fishtival on June 13, complete with a KCRW Summer Nights dance party, a grunion hatching session, and ocean-themed fun.

Shakespeare by the Sea returns to 22nd Street Park on June 26 with a performance of “Julius Caesar,” followed by “As You Like It” at the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade on July 12. And on June 27, classic car enthusiasts can cruise into the 16th Annual Cars & Stripes Forever show, featuring a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m.

On June 28, the Wilmington Summer Art Walk will showcase local artists, craft vendors, and live entertainment, while the John Olguin July 4th Weekend Fireworks Spectacular lights up Cabrillo Beach on July 5. San Pedro Pride 2025 will celebrate community connection on July 12 with live music and family-friendly activities at West Harbor Town Square.

For a more active adventure, register for the 16th annual Conquer the Bridge Race on Labor Day, Sept. 1, for a rare chance to run or walk across the Vincent Thomas Bridge. Then, on Sept. 13, the Port of Los Angeles will host free Harbor Boat Tours departing from Wilmington and San Pedro, offering a behind-the-scenes look at America’s busiest trade gateway.

While exploring the LA Waterfront, visitors can also check out the area’s historic sites, including the Battleship IOWA Museum, Los Angeles Maritime Museum, and Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. The San Pedro Waterfront Red Trolley will provide convenient transportation to these destinations throughout the summer.
