South Coast Fish Report

Still seeing some great bass action for the 1/2 day anglers. Surface action on live sardines made for some fun calico bass action this week. Rubber lures are catching fish, and plenty of sand bass, sculpin, and whitefish as well for the half-day fishermen. Amazing water temps, 61°–63°, and very consistent throughout this stretch of the coast.

Catching some nice sculpin in the deep water.

For the 3/4 day anglers, it’s been more sculpin, whitefish, and sanddabs. Been pretty consistent catching as well out over the deeper hard bottom spots for that mixed bottom fish. 3/4 day trips have been mixing in a little bass fishing too and seeing the same catch as the 1/2 day, with mixed bass action down off Pendleton and over the reefs in that stretch.

A few more smaller legal-sized halibut this week too for the anglers fishing the derby. There are plenty of good opportunities ahead for those anglers wanting to get into the mix there as well. It’s been scratch-type fishing, but that’s been ok. We’ve been seeing fish caught consistently on open party trips, which is good. The drift trips have been a bit slow only because there hasn’t been much current, and keeping the boat in a drift hasn’t been easy as a result.
