LORETO, Mexico — One of the newest destinations for recreational boaters on Baja California’s Sea of Cortez coast is preparing for its official opening, according to representatives on behalf of Loreto’s Marina Puerto Escondido.
Marina Puerto Escondido, which has been under new ownership and functioned as a full-service marina since 2016, will likely host a grand opening event in late September. The grand opening would commemorate the rebranding of Marina Puerto Escondido; most of the marina’s additions and improvements went into effect this year.
The marina welcomed a 150-foot yacht in January, the largest recreational vessel to visit Puerto Escondido. Vessels with a draft of 12 feet or larger can be accommodated at the marina.
More than 80 new slips came online in March. The marina angles itself as a jump-off for kayaking, hiking, sailing, sportfishing and whale-watching amenities.
Isla Carmen, Isla Danzante, Isla Monserrate and Isla Santa Catalan – part of the Loreto Bay National Park – are popular destinations for sportfishing activities and other outdoor excursions.
Available amenities at Marina Puerto Escondido include a 50-ton travelift, laundry service and restaurant with rooftop pool.
