SAN DIEGO — Many boaters grow accustomed to the often long walk from the marina gate to their boat’s slip. But at Gold Coast Anchorage, slip tenants can get used to a quick walk and convenient access to many nearby stores and restaurants.
Located on San Diego Bay’s Shelter Island, the boutique marina owned by Nielsen Beaumont Premier Yachtworks is adjacent to the company’s shipyard facility and next door to Humphrey’s Half Moon Marina. Gold Coast Anchorage features wood docks and has a total of around 40 slips, ranging in size from 42 feet to a 160-foot side-tie.
“We’re very ‘captain-oriented,’ because you don’t have to walk as far every time you need a part for your boat,” said Nielsen Beaumont partner Don Beaumont. “At this part of Shelter Island, the vendors are across the street and the boatyards are right there, so we get a lot of Mexico and Alaska transition boats.”
Gold Coast Anchorage, previously owned by BellPort, was purchased by Nielsen Beaumont four years ago. With new wood docks installed about 10 years ago — and holding up well — Beaumont said they worked on upgrading the look of the marina when they took over.
