Byline: The Log Staff SAN DIEGO COUNTY Oceanside Harbor Sept. 2 • 3:38 p.m. Oceanside Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a vessel sinking off the Oceanside Pier. The skipper stated he was taking on water and his bilge pumps were unable to keep up. Patrol boats R-1 and R-2 responded. R-1 attempted to get a line on the bow of the sinking vessel. While R-1 was working the bowline, R-2 began to pump out the vessel. According to officers, the vessel was nearly full of water and extremely unstable, ultimately capsizing. As the vessel capsized, a 15-year-old was struck in the head by the bow rail, officers reported. Officer Sabino jumped into the water and helped bring the 15-year-old aboard a patrol boat. The 15-year-old suffered a contusion to the forehead, according to reports. The vessel was ultimately pulled to the launch ramp and righted, with the assistance of lifeguards. ORANGE COUNTY Dana Point Harbor Sept. 2 • 2:17 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report that two vessels had collided near a dock end-tie.
