POSD stakeholder forum recognizes Maritime Month

SAN DIEGO—Why limit yourself to one day when you could have an entire month of celebrating and honoring the local maritime industry? This is certainly the case in America’s Finest City, where the Port of San Diego recognizes Maritime Month each May. Maritime Month for 2019 might be in the rear-view mirror, but members of the Port of San Diego’s Maritime Stakeholder Forum made it a point to shine a light on the local bay, where anglers, boaters, cruisers, military members, shipping interests and others call home. The port district’s celebration of Maritime Month is a month-long extension of National Maritime Day, which was celebrated on May 22. Members of the port district’s Maritime Stakeholder Forum met on April 23 and previewed the activities schedule of Maritime Month. One of the activities annually promoted by the Port of San Diego each Maritime Month: free public boat tours of San Diego Bay and the working waterfront.
