Summer is officially underway, which means the Santa Barbara Harbor Commission will likely be dark for the next few weeks.
Santa Barbara city staff announced the Harbor Commission wouldn’t meet on June 20. The commission has canceled its June meeting in years past, often in the name of summer vacation and non-urgent business on deck.
Commissioners last met on May 16 and discussed Operation Clean Sweep, Harbor Nautical Swap Meet, creation of a Commercial Fishing Committee, a proposed replacement of an underground fuel storage tank and uses of the harbor and neighboring shoreline area.
There is a commission meeting set for July 18, but precedence does exist for the city to cancel this meeting, as well. Commissioners won’t meet until August if the city does indeed cancel the July 18 meeting.
There are five remaining meetings after July 18: Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
Meetings are held at Council Chambers of Santa Barbara City Hall, 735 Anacapa Street, on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
