Of the 28 Catalina coves I detail in my guidebook “Anchoring at Catalina,” there are some I just go back to again and again. The best choice depends on the season, the wind, the weather, and my sailing objectives — training, relaxing, or a passage stopover, and there are many from which to choose. While it’s nice to get a mooring at one of the 11 coves that has them, my favorite spots on Catalina just don’t have moorings. I want to share those ideas with you.
