Yacht Club News and Notes: c’s General Manager Scott Jones Retires After 14 Years of Service

Scott Jones, who took the helm as General Manager of Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club (BCYC) in 2011, officially retired on August 30, 2025, after 14 years of service to the club.

A veteran of the hospitality and food and beverage industry, Scott began his career nearly six decades ago as a teenager working for the Marie Callender’s restaurant chain. Over 23 years with the company, he rose to Vice President of Operations and was responsible for opening 112 restaurants across 15 states while also managing the chain’s training center.

During the Vietnam War era, Scott joined the Army Reserves while attending college. While on active duty at Fort Ord, California, he ran a Mess Hall as a cook. His career later took him overseas, where he opened restaurants for Carl’s Jr. and El Pollo Loco licensees in Singapore, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur.

Throughout his time at BCYC, Scott worked closely with multiple Boards of Directors to strengthen the club’s reputation as “The Friendliest Club in the Harbor.” Beyond his professional contributions, he remained dedicated to youth programs in the community, serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 90 for 37 years.
BCYC Commodore Michael Means, speaking on behalf of the membership and Flag Officers, expressed gratitude for Scott’s 14 years of leadership and service, noting that his steady hand at the helm left a lasting legacy of professionalism, warmth, and commitment.

Scott was succeeded by Saul Aguilar, who had previously served as BCYC’s Food and Beverage Manager in 2011 and 2012. With over 20 years in the club industry, Saul most recently spent more than nine years at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach.

Scott and his wife Cynthia, longtime residents of Corona del Mar, raised their four children there and now enjoy spending time with their three grandchildren. Even in retirement, Scott planned to remain active in the community through his work as a Scoutmaster and as a member of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce Commodores Club.

To honor his service, Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club hosted a sendoff party for Scott on August 24.
