South Coast Fish Report

Provided by Dana Wharf Sportfishing

Epic weather week with some pretty nice conditions. Water temps still in the 60°–62° range, and 1/2-day anglers are seeing some fun fishing. BSB action continued to be a mix of mid-water on sliding sinkers for the calico bass and bottom setups like dropper loops or lead head and squid for the sand bass. A few calico bass also came on the rubber lures. Plenty of sheephead being caught and released as well, though not really reflected in our counts.

Deeper zones have been productive for sculpin, whitefish, and sanddabs. Dropper loops and lures are still best for the sculpin. This setup has been pretty good at keeping the rockfish off the hooks out deep.

The halibut derby saw a few fish being caught on the Friday drift trips. Still no giant standout fish, but plenty of good opportunity ahead.

Easy week.
