AVALON— In its 11th year, Avalon Restaurant Week beckons with an array of delectable offerings from some of the town’s most beloved dining establishments. From May 31 through June 6, food enthusiasts are invited to partake in a culinary celebration featuring specially crafted dishes and menus. Sip, sample and savor your way through town, then cast your vote for the best tastes, including crowning the Best Taste of the Year. Winning establishments not only earn $100 each, but also gain bragging rights for the coming year. The Taste of Avalon marks the official launch of Avalon Restaurant Week.
How it works: Get your Voting Card to enjoy tastings. Each participant needs to purchase a c. Discounted advance purchase is on May 29 for $2. A voting card is $3 the day of the event and will be available at the Love Catalina Visitor Center on the Green Pleasure Pier before the event, as well as at Wrigley Stage during the event from 5-9 p.m. It’s advisable to purchase your cards early at the center to avoid waiting during the event.
Gather at Wrigley Stage at 5 p.m. for a brief welcome by Love Catalina Island, followed by an overview of how the event works.
Participants can try out all their “Tastes” across four categories (typically priced between $1-$5 each) including:
- Appetizers/main dishes
- Sweets and treats
- Cocktails
- Non-alcoholic beverages
Local tip: Carry approximately $20-$40 in ones or small bills, as many restaurants may have limited change as the evening progresses.
Vote for your favorites in each category. Establishments with the four Best “Taste” Winners receive $100 each. Participants who submit their completed Voting Cards are automatically entered into a bonus drawing for a chance to win a $50 Catalina Island gift certificate. Voting Cards should be turned in by 9:15 p.m. at Wrigley Stage at the conclusion of the event.
