In a move that will Connect the Newport Harbor boating community with conservation work along the Southern California coast and around the Channel Islands, Balboa Yacht Club has announced a partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific.
The club said it will serve as the aquarium’s exclusive yacht club partner and support its dive and animal care teams. According to Balboa Yacht Club, the partnership may draw on the club’s boats, members and other resources for research, animal collection and efforts to return species to their native habitats.
For boaters, the announcement offers a way to take part in work beyond the harbor and the waters they regularly cruise. The club described the partnership as an opportunity to support the people studying and protecting the local marine environment. It’s not yet identified specific projects, participation opportunities or a schedule, but said it expects to share more details in the coming months.
