California Agencies Invite Marinas and Yacht Clubs to Free Spill Response Workshops

Marinas and yacht clubs across California are invited to participate in a free Spill Response Communication Workshop hosted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR), the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways, and the California Coastal Commission.

Scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., the workshop will be offered both in-person and online. In-person attendance will take place at Encinal Yacht Club, located at 1251 Pacific Marina in Alameda, with free parking available.

The workshop is designed for facilities that interact with motorized vessels and will cover important topics including California’s oil spill response structure, the state’s Spill Response Communication Packet for marinas and yacht clubs, new real-life spill case studies, and best practices learned from past incidents. Attendees will also receive information about oil spill response resources available to boating facilities.

Participation is encouraged for all marinas and yacht clubs. Those wishing to attend in person must register by contacting Vivian Matuk at [email protected]. To attend virtually, participants must register online at https://ports-ca.zoom.us/meeting/register/sQLZIMQVRPeUohyxpCIrYw#/registration.
