Fisherman’s Wharf in Channel Islands Harbor is clearing the way for Karls Village, a proposed waterfront destination in Oxnard, which is expected to open in spring 2028. The project will be the first U.S. location for Karls, a family-owned German company known for its food, shopping, and recreational attractions.
Planned for roughly 11 acres near Channel Islands Boulevard and Victoria Avenue, the development will include restaurants, retail, a café and bakery, plus other family attractions and outdoor gathering spaces. The company and the Ventura County Harbor Department say the design will draw on the area’s agricultural history and maritime setting. Plans also call for improvements to public waterfront access.
The California Coastal Commission approved the project in 2025. With demolition now in progress, the Harbor Department says construction will follow, though the spring 2028 opening remains a target.
