The Coastal Conservation Association of California (CCA CAL) has named Devin O’Dea its executive director, putting him in charge of the volunteer-based organization’s work on marine conservation and recreational fishing access.
O’Dea previously served as Western policy and conservation manager for Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, where he worked with staff and volunteers across 13 states. His experience includes habitat restoration, public access efforts, and conservation partnerships. He also has a background in outdoor-industry marketing and holds a political science degree from UC Santa Barbara.
Bill Shedd, chairman of CCA CAL and American Fishing Tackle Co., said the organization chose O’Dea to build on its recent work and support its growth. O’Dea said he plans to work with anglers, scientists, and policymakers on fisheries management, habitat conservation, and access to California’s coast and waters.
The appointment was announced Sept. 17.
