Catalina Island Birding Excursion

Join the Catalina Island Conservancy for a guided birding excursion into Catalina’s wildlands. Led by expert birder Laura Vandezande, this immersive outing introduces participants to the island’s diverse bird populations, their habitats, calls, and behaviors — all while exploring some of Catalina’s most scenic natural areas.

The group will meet at the Trailhead Visitor Center in Avalon at 8:00 a.m. before boarding a shuttle into the interior. Participants will return to the Trailhead by 2:00 p.m. and encouraged to bring their own snacks and lunch, binoculars, water, clothing layers, sun protection, long pants, and sturdy shoes. Participants must book their own ferry transportation to Avalon and arrive by 8:00 a.m. It’ll be the perfect outing for birders, nature lovers, and anyone eager to discover Catalina’s wildlife up close.
