Nov. 21 • 6:38 a.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report that a sailboat with sails down, 300 yards from Doheny State Beach, was pulling a dinghy behind — and a male subject was visible in the water.
Newport Harbor
Nov. 18 • 11:24 a.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report that a swan had something stuck in its bill.
Nov. 18 • 3:26 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers impounded several kayaks left on the beach.
Nov. 18 • 3:27 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted getting a sunken vessel afloat at a local marina.
Nov. 19 • 6:40 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a man being seen carrying an 11.5-foot paddleboard who reportedly was a possible suspect in a theft.
Nov. 19 • 2:04 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report that there was a possible liveaboard boater near the 300 block of Via Lido Soud. Harbor Patrol officers found a 52-foot vessel tied up to an unoccupied dock, with no documentation.
Nov. 19 • 4:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a boat from a slip.
Nov. 20 • 2:49 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report of an illegal boarding of a boat at a marina slip.
Huntington Harbour
Nov. 9 • 3:59 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report of three paddleboarders in the restricted area at Marker 11.
Nov. 11 • 6:59 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report that an open mic was sounding from a boat near the Warner fire station. The radio was found and silenced. No one was on board.
Nov. 16 • 10:25 a.m. Three paddleboarders were escorted out of the Naval Weapons Station.
Nov. 20 • 11:24 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report that a large amount of white foamy water was coming from an unknown source in Portofino Cove. Upon inspection, it appeared to be regular seafoam.
Nov. 20 • 2:51 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted in closing the harbor for ship movement.
Nov. 21 • 2:37 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a 35-foot powerboat dragging anchor inside the anchorage.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Marina del Rey
Oct. 18 • 3:20 p.m. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Marina del Rey Marine Patrol unit responded to a sinking boat approximately 12 miles offshore. The vessel operator requested assistance using their VHF radio. A search was conducted by Coast Guard, Baywatch and Sheriff’s Department personnel. The vessel was located and taken in tow.
Oct. 27 • 5:50 p.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey Marine Patrol unit responded to “E” basin regarding a vessel with engine failure. The vessel operator requested assistance using their VHF radio. When deputies arrived, the boater was able to get his engine started and returned to his slip, with an escort from the patrol boat for safety.
Nov. 10 • 2 p.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey Marine Patrol unit responded to “G” Basin regarding a vessel taking on water. The vessel was taken in tow and an emergency pump was used to dewater the vessel. The boat was towed to its slip in “G” Basin without further incident.
