Newport to Ensenada Yacht Race Moving Forward as Planned, NOSA Confirms

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — The Newport Ocean Sailing Association (NOSA) has confirmed that the Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race, scheduled April 24 through 26, will proceed as planned, despite recent questions raised within the sailing community.

In an official statement released this week, NOSA addressed inquiries prompted by recent events in parts of Mexico and the cancellation of the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta Race. According to NOSA leadership, those developments have not impacted the race venue or associated events in Ensenada.

“The Newport to Ensenada Race has not been canceled,” the organization stated, emphasizing that it continues to closely monitor conditions through verified local contacts and official channels. Based on current information, NOSA reports there have been no incidents affecting Ensenada’s harbor, downtown areas, or race-related facilities.

Maritime and tourism operations in the region are continuing without disruption. Cruise ships are actively arriving at the Port of Ensenada and docking at Cruiseport Village, with passengers visiting downtown businesses as usual. NOSA noted that major cruise lines, including Carnival Cruise Line, are maintaining their regular routes between the Long Beach/Los Angeles area and Ensenada.

NOSA officials said they remain in close communication with local partners and authorities and are prepared to share updates should conditions change. For now, preparations for the race and its associated events are continuing on schedule.

The organization reiterated that the safety of racers, volunteers, sponsors, and guests remains its top priority. NOSA also stressed its commitment to transparent communication and responsible decision-making grounded in confirmed information.

Participants and supporters are encouraged to rely on official NOSA communications for accurate updates regarding the race.
