The Biden-Harris Administration and NOAA Fisheries have announced up to $100 million in funding for transformational habitat restoration and coastal resilience projects. This initiative, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, aims to strengthen coastal and Great Lakes communities, including U.S. tribes, against climate hazards.

Up to 15% of the funding is dedicated to U.S. tribes, Alaska Native corporations, and tribal-affiliated organizations, reflecting NOAA’s commitment to inclusive decision-making. Projects will focus on restoring marine, estuarine, coastal, or Great Lakes ecosystems to rebuild fisheries, protect endangered species, and enhance community resilience.

Applications are open until April 16, 2025, and NOAA encourages proposals with broad community support, particularly from underserved groups and tribal communities. For more information, visit the Transformational Habitat Restoration and Coastal Resilience Grants website.

“These investments have been transformative and will continue to support tribes and communities on the front lines of the climate crisis,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. NOAA’s Community-based Habitat Restoration Program has restored over 94,000 acres of habitat since 1996, showcasing the long-term impact of such initiatives.
