  1. You need to go to the Chowder Barge in Wilmington. It’s a floating restaurant with beer and wine. It’s in Leeward Bay Marina. Lunchtime or 3-5 you will see a lot of boaters having a beer and lunch. Liveaboards, cruisers, commercial divers etc.

  2. Can you imagine being a Livaboard? I cannot, but I love coming to stay on our boat for a few days at a time. It’s a real Getaway! So, since we come to spend tie on our boat, we don’t frequent Shenanigans often. But it is a great place, welcoming, comfortable, and good food and drinks. However, we did join the yacht club 8 months ago, and we enjoy the camaraderie with familiar people, both sail and power boaters. Also, the club offers sailing classes, and local cruises with familiar people, which has helped us gain boating knowledge and boating experience. Additionally, there is an area in the clubhouse for watching the football game, or having dinner, watching the sunset from the deck, joining in or sitting alone, and seasonal events, such as the 4th of July Pancake breakfast, or Sunday afternoon Hamburger fun fest with music. Very welcoming, meeting sailing friends, and boaters from neighboring slips. Having great neighbors is just as important here in a marina, as it is inland. Advantages both ways! But if you have never been to the Chowder Barge, for sure, give it a try!!
