OCEANSIDE— Harbors and marinas throughout the country have seen an increase in the amount of human powered watercraft on their waterways with much of the activity centered on the booming paddleboard
Interesting dilemma. Does it make sense to regulate the heck out of the motorized foil boards given they don’t make a wake or much noise? They don’t really bother others in the same way a jet ski speeding through the harbor does by making a wake and rocking other boats.
Thank you tolerant boater. These are silent, create no wake, they don’t pollute, and they are the most maneuverable watercraft in the ocean. Let people have fun.
I wish there was legislation to keep foils, SUPs and kayaks out of public beach and water areas. For instance, Cowell’s Santa Cruz. Especially on a busy day of beginners, tourists, families with young kids and just people in general trying to have fun. A foil has no business there. My opinion if you think otherwise is that you are only thinking of yourself. All those craft are super fun, but they have no place in a crowded line up. I fear it will take someone being seriously injured before anyone really takes action.
These highly advanced environmentally friendly noiseless devices provide an excellent form of cardiac exercise for us older guys who love water sports. Safety measures should should be established and immediately pit into force and effect. Beyond that users should otherwise be free to take advantage of these devices in every way possible. Simple.
