I am a former Challenged Sailor’s volunteer who helped out with Sylvia. She is a remarkable woman, knowledgeable in her field, and a pleasure to be mentored by.
I formerly volunteered with Challenged America for a year, then in 2018 had a paragliding accident and in 2020 began to sail with Challenged Sailors SD. Their Martin 16s are remarkable boats! I sail them with an Asymmetrical Spinnaker at times, and also sail, when we can get it in the water the SKUD 18 with its asymmetrical spinnaker. The volunteers are just as amazing as the boats. I’m hoping to recover to the point where I can be a volunteer, and I’m working to get my Keelboat Instructor with Adaptive Sailing Endorsement so I can teach the volunteers and participants. All thanks to Mike and Sylvia Swall and their volunteers at CSSD.
