The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) will present the ninth installment of their Risk Mitigation Series on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET. The free webinar, “Plugs, Pigtails, and Pre-Wired Chargers, Oh My!” will cover the latest electrical safety concerns and standards updates for the marine industry.
Topics include a USCG industry update; new requirements in ABYC standards E-11 (AC and DC electrical systems) and E-13 (lithium-ion batteries); guidance on pre-wired battery chargers; and practical considerations for multiple DC voltage systems.
“Electrical systems are evolving rapidly, and so are the risks,” said Maciej Rynkiewicz, ABYC standards developer. “Whether you are designing, inspecting, or servicing boats, understanding these updates is essential to keeping people safe and systems compliant.”
The Risk Mitigation Series is a free, online program aimed at improving safety in recreational boat design and construction. Sessions are recorded for later viewing.
Free registration is available at abycinc.org/riskmitigation9. Past recordings can be found at abycinc.org/USCGwebinars.
