CENTRAL CALIFORNIA — A pair of invasive Japanese algae could spread into the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, according to two members of the sanctuary’s Resource Protection Department.

  1. Install some public mooring balls so that boaters can visit the sanctuary without dropping anchor. It will reduce the damage caused to the sanctuary by dragging anchors and the spread of the invasive algae from boaters inadvertently spreading the algae on their anchor and rode from the last anchorage.
