Hollywood Actor Ted McGinley Named Grand Marshal of 117th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Ted McGinley, actor and Newport Beach native, will serve as Grand Marshal for opening night of the 117th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, set to run December 17 through 21, 2025.
Known for his roles on “Happy Days,” “The Love Boat,” “Married…with Children,” and the Emmy nominated series “Shrinking,” McGinley will help kick off this year’s parade theme, Magical Nights of Lights.
More than 100 decorated vessels will illuminate the 14 mile parade route each evening at 6:30 p.m., featuring pyrotechnics, synchronized lighting, live music, dancers, and festive displays. McGinley, who grew up in Newport Beach and attended Newport Harbor High School, said he is honored to return to his hometown for the celebration.
Opening night festivities will take place at Marina Park, the largest public viewing area on the route, with a ceremony, fireworks show, front row parade viewing, and a holiday market from 4:00 to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
This year’s Grand Marshal lineup includes Ted McGinley on December 17, Olive Crest on December 18, local first responders on December 19, the Rose Queen and Royal Court on December 20, and student performers from OCSA’s MONTAGE! on December 21.
