Kelley Los Coronados Race, Hosted by Coronado Yacht Club — May 17, 2025
The Kelley Los Coronados Race will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, and will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (2025 to 2028). All participants must comply with Naval and Cruise Ship Protection Zone regulations. This includes maintaining minimum speed within 500 yards of any U.S. Naval or cruise ship vessel and staying at least 100 yards away from them at all times. Vessels must also follow any directions given by official patrols.
The race is open to all members of yacht clubs and sailing associations recognized by US Sailing. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances. Sailing instructions will be available on Regatta Network and at the Coronado Yacht Club front desk by 1:00 p.m. on May 16, 2025.
The race will start near Channel Marker SD 9, with the starting line marked by a race committee boat. Prizes will be awarded at the annual Coronado Yacht Club awards event.
All competitors participate at their own risk. In accordance with RRS 4 (Decision to Race), the organizing authority assumes no liability for any material damage, injury, or death occurring before, during, or after the event. 2025 Sundown Series — Fridays at Del Rey Yacht Club — First Race: May 16, 2025

The 2025 Sundown Series will be held on selected Friday evenings, beginning May 16, 2025, and will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing. Notices to competitors will be posted online at dryc.org/racing, the official notice board for the event.
This event is open to all monohull sailboats. Yacht club membership, sail numbers, and PHRF certificates are not required for Cruiser Class entries. However, boats racing in Performance Classes must have a valid PHRF certificate. Novice sailors are encouraged to reach out to the Race Committee for assistance with registration, race procedures, or obtaining a temporary rating.
Boats will be scored using PHRF Area B windward/leeward ratings. The protest time limit is 30 minutes after a boat finishes or retires. Protests must be submitted via email to [email protected] or in person at the DRYC front desk. All parties involved in a protest will be notified of the time and location of their hearing.

2025 Griffith Race 3 — Saturday, May 17

The third event in the 2025 Griffith Series will be hosted by the Los Angeles Yacht Club (LAYC) on Saturday, May 17. This is one of three individual races in the series, each held on separate weekends. Each race must be entered individually using the appropriate online registration link.
The event will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the U.S. Safety Equipment Requirements (USSER) — Nearshore Category, effective January 1, 2025, except as modified by the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions. All participating yachts must hold a current Southern California PHRF certificate with a maximum allowable rating of 180. Boats must also carry a VHF radio capable of transmitting and receiving on Channel 71.
Each race in the series will feature a single inverted (pursuit) start. The warning signal for the first boat will take place at 12:55 p.m., with subsequent boats starting according to their assigned start times. The start line will be located inside Los Angeles Harbor, east of Pier 400, near coordinates N33°43.01’, W118°14.58’. Skippers should be aware of a submerged material site just east of the starting area. This shallow area, approximately 15 feet deep and marked by steel daybeacons, is more fully described on NOAA Chart 18751 (Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbors, 48th Edition 46, July 2016).
Daily race prizes will be awarded during post-race hospitality at the LAYC clubhouse. Overall series results will be posted online following the completion and scoring of all three races.
